PLEASE DONATE FOR CLASS SIZE REDUCTION!
Welcome back to the 2011-2012 school year. Each year we ask current families to make a contribution to the Los Cerros Academic Boosters to enhance the academic excellence of our school. The funds are used to add individual classes (sections) to the master schedule for the upcoming school year. These additional classes reduce the number of students in core classes and enhance the elective offerings at Los Cerros. Every dollar contributed benefits the students at all three grade levels. The Academic Boosters Fund gives Los Cerros parents the opportunity to have a direct impact on improving their students’ education by reducing the student to teacher ratio in the classroom and securing courses that foster academic excellence.

- DID YOU KNOW?
- A class section is one class taught during one period all year. Each class section costs approximately $14,500 per year.
- Last year Academic Boosters was only able to fund 8.5 class sections compared to 12 classes funded in previous years.
- District cuts of $500-$700 per student are predicted this year, if the proposed tax election fails.
- California is one of the lowest states in the nation in funding per student.
Los Cerros Academic Boosters’ goal for 2011-2012 is to fund 12 class sections. Rather than increase the amount we are asking for this year, we are asking all families to make a donation. We suggest $350 per student, however any donation is greatly appreciated and desperately needed.
- FREE MONEY?
- Employer Matching – Did you know you can double your donation? Many employers will match your donation! Contact Leah Brecke at leahbrecke@yahoo.com to verify your Employer Match. Boosters has received almost $10,000 through matching funds during the 2010-2011 school year.
- eScrip – Register your Safeway card at www.escrip.com. It’s easy and this program brought in over $6,000 during the 2010-2011 school year.
